Studious Monday is a Dearborn, Mich. based apparel brand that recently launched their first full clothing collection. Modest Mod is the theme for this company’s first Autumn/Winter collection. The line pays homage to the 1960s and 70s British mod scene. The line uses bold silhouettes of warm earth tones in corduroy and recycled polyester and wool .

My favorite piece in the collection was the upcycled, long-line vest. The open-front design features large patch pockets and a branded logo on the back.

I had a lot of fun styling this simple, structured piece. After trying it with a few combinations, I landed on pairing it with a fitted turtleneck dress and accentuating my silhouette by belting it at my natural waistline.

When I tell you I got SO many compliments on this outfit, I am not exaggerating. Strangers were literally stopping me in the street, the parking lot and the store to tell me they loved this look. (Talk about a confidence booster!)

Take a look at their Bombzer. That name is trademarked exclusively for Studious Monday, and I must say, they nailed it with the design.

My biggest pet peeve with blazers is when the sleeves fall down or get in the way. With the Bombzer, that’s not an issue. The sleeve cuffs are smocked which prevents them from falling down or riding up and gives the jacket a more updated aesthetic.

I personally hope to see this style in a tweed next fall and a plush velvet next holiday season.

Studious Monday was founded by Nawal Alsaeed, a daughter of immigrants, a wife, a mother and a proud Muslim woman.

Studious Monday began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Alsaeed started creating and selling organic and hijab-friendly face masks. Now, Studious Monday is shifting into fashion. The brand hopes to focus on understated styles and ethics.

“As a Muslim woman, Studious Monday is my love letter to my faith and my passion for fashion and design,” said Alsaeed, CEO and creative director of Studious Monday. “Our goal is to create clothing that destigmatizes modesty; clothing that is fashion-forward, functional and versatile. Gone are the days of drab, unpleasant modest wear, for we believe our wardrobes should be both on-trend, practical and ethical. I am confident our ethos will resonate with people of all beliefs, colors and shapes.”

The handcrafted items in Studious Monday’s Modest Mod collection range from $99 to $289 with sizes ranging from small to extra-large.
